The National Youth Service has announced that its ongoing volunteer recruitment exercise has been postponed by one day to align with a public holiday during the holy month.
Applicants who were scheduled to report on March 20, 2026, are now expected at their recruitment centers on Saturday, March 21, 2026. The Commandant General emphasized that the adjustment applies to all recruitment centers across the country.
“All prospective candidates are advised to take note of the change and present themselves at their respective recruitment centers on the revised dates,” the statement said, urging volunteers to adhere to the new schedule.
The rescheduling aims to allow all applicants to participate in the recruitment process without disruption, while respecting culturally and religiously significant observances.
The Commandant General highlighted the importance of punctuality and proper preparation, noting that volunteers play a key role in supporting government initiatives and contributing to national development.
“We appreciate your understanding and continued commitment to servicing the nation,” the statement read.
The NYS recruitment forms part of ongoing efforts to enlist qualified, motivated young people into volunteer service roles across various departments.
Selected volunteers undergo a rigorous assessment process, including physical, academic, and medical tests, to ensure only suitably prepared candidates join the service.
By participating, volunteers gain opportunities for training, skill development, and career growth while promoting civic engagement, teamwork, and discipline.
The postponement reflects the NYS’s flexibility in accommodating national events while maintaining the integrity and efficiency of its selection process. Applicants are advised to adjust travel and accommodation plans, verify recruitment center locations, and follow any additional instructions from the service to avoid missing the revised schedule.
Authorities said the change underscores the Ministry of Interior and National Administration’s commitment to recognizing public holidays without disrupting national service activities.
Failure to comply with the updated timetable may affect participation, highlighting the importance of timely communication and coordination in large-scale recruitment exercises.
By shifting the exercise to March 21, the NYS aims to safeguard both organizational efficiency and candidate readiness, setting the stage for a smooth and successful volunteer recruitment.
